Safety - refers to a defensive shot when balls are
maneuvered with an intention to leave the opponent with
difficult shot or another safety shot.
Scratch - refers to a situation when cue ball leaves the playing surface of the during a shot.
Scratch Shot - refers to a shot when cue ball is likely to scratch.
Short - refers to a bank shot that misses on the near side of the pocket.
Shotmaker - refers to a billiard player capable of making shots beyond playing positions.
Side Rails - refers to the longer rails of a billiard table.
Slate - refers to the huge piece of flat rocks put together that make up the playing
surface of a billiard table.
Slop - refers to a shot when an object ball is hit without an intentional pocket.
Slug - term used when balls are loosely racked in order to neutralize a break.
Solids - refers to object balls 1 to 7.
Stripes - refers to object balls 9 to 15.
Throw - refers to a shot when the cue ball alters the normal projection of object ball means of friction.
This is done by inducing a side spin on the cue ball
Triangle - refers to the billiard device that rack the balls.
