Follow Through Shot

Only those who have to do simple things perfectly will acquire the skill to do difficult things easily”
-Friedrich von Schiller , 1759-1805

A follow through is a very easy shot...why I put in advanced section?...Because for two reasons: one is by doing a follow through is that you apply a variation on the normal rotation of the ball which affect the direction of the cue ball.  And Second you should know when to use it.  The way you apply a follow through is by hitting the cue ball above the center with a follow through action on the stick. The effect of follow through after it hits the object ball on an angle shot is the alteration of the normal tangential direction ( white line see diagram below).  On a straight shot , however, it will follow the object ball to the same direction.  Also note that when a cue ball is hit with a follow through, it will bounce at a wider angle than normal when it hits the cushion.

Again, most common use of this technique is when  trying to prevent the cue ball from scratching ( like in the diagram) and when placing the cue ball for a next easy shot.

Good luck!!!
